All of our garments are handmade in Finland by our founder, ELI, using a mix of recycled materials and carefully sourced new fabrics. We want your pieces to last, so proper care is key to keeping them looking fresh and helping the environment too.

Washing 

Wash only when necessary to avoid wear and tear. For the best results, use a gentle 30°C wash or hand-wash for your garment. If necessary, you can go up to 40°C. If you're looking to freshen your clothes without washing, try steam cleaning or using fabric safe alcohol sprays to neutralise any odors. Always air dry your pieces, as this helps preserve the fabrics and unique details.

Some of our designs feature prints, metal accents, and other delicate elements, so for these items, handwashing is the best way to keep them in top shape.

Materials

Our sustainable materials are a big part of what makes our brand special. We use recycled fabrics from old garments, thrift stores, and other second-hand sources, giving them a new life. For new materials, we work with trusted Finnish small businesses to make sure everything we use is of good quality. Fabrics and materials used in products are listed as detailed as possible. Many of the ELI 'ORIGINAL' collection fabrics have GOTS and ÖKO-TEX Standard 100 certifications and those are listed in the materials page.

What is GOTS?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world’s leading certification for organic textiles, ensuring both environmental and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.

• Organic Materials – GOTS-certified textiles must contain at least 70% organic fibers, grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs.
• No Harmful Chemicals – Strict regulations prohibit toxic substances like formaldehyde and chlorine.
• Ethical Production – GOTS ensures fair wages, safe working conditions, and no child or forced labor.
• Sustainable Practices – From farming to finished products, GOTS promotes eco-friendly manufacturing and traceable supply chains.

GOTS certification guarantees that a product meets high sustainability standards, making it a responsible choice for conscious consumers.

What is ÖKO-TEX® STANDARD 100?

ÖKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is an internationally recognized certification ensuring that textiles are tested for harmful substances and meet strict safety standards.

• Safe for Skin – Every fabric, thread, button, and accessory is tested against a list of 1,000+ harmful substances.
• Human & Environmental Safety – Limits chemicals like formaldehyde, heavy metals, and pesticide residues.
• Strict Testing – The more intensive the skin contact, the stricter the safety requirements.
• Global Standards – Certifications are reviewed annually to comply with international regulations.

ÖKO-TEX® guarantees that textiles are harmless to human health, making them a safer and more responsible choice for fashion and interiors.

Collections

ELIEFFEKT 'UPCYCLED' collection is made entirely from upcycled materials, each piece telling its own story. We use upcycled fabrics from old garments, thrift stores, and other second-hand sources, giving them a new life and for more sustainable future. This collection features a lot of original prints, patches, rugged edges and layered garments.

ELI 'ORIGINALS' collection is created from scratch using fabrics that are sourced from small Finnish businesses. We focus on making unisex clothing and personal wardrobe staples that are designed to last. The garments are handmade from the very beginning in Finland: From sourcing fabrics to designing the piece to making it. The collection consists of wardrobe staples with ELI ORIGINAL silhouettes. Bold shapes and high quality materials will stay with you for a lifetime.

Repair and recycle program 

We also offer a repair program for ELI 'ORIGINAL' collection items, ensuring your clothes remain wearable for a lifetime. If your ELI 'ORIGINAL' item starts to show wear and tear, you can contact us at info@elieffekt.com with the subject line 'REPAIR' and tell us your worries. We will get back to you ASAP. After studying the problem, you can send the garment to us to be repaired. Instructions will be provided in the response email.

Additionally, we provide a 10% discount if you return any of your ELIEFFEKT items to us for recycling, instead of discarding them.
